BAPTISM
In the film, Baptism and religion are focused on. The men see a group of people getting Baptized in a lake. They run to get Baptized as well because they think that this will clean them from their sins as well as make sure they are not punished for all the wrong they have done.
“YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE”
“You are my Sunshine” is a song that was hit numerous times in this film. It shows the interest he has with getting back with Penny but also foreshadows the end of the film.
MONTGOMERY WARDS CATALOG
The Montgomery Wards Catalog is said it is to answer the problem as to where to keep the telephone. The catalog was referenced in the film once and showed the confusion.
DAPPER DAN
Dapper Dan is a pomade that showed up in this film numerous times. From going to order it to seeing it floating away in the mudslide. It was a good prop to have because it helped show continuity in the film.
THE MOB
There was a mob that had Babyface as a part of it. Mobs and strikes happen throughout the world when certain situations start to happen. The mob in this film helped to show conflict .
THE POLICE FORCE
The police force had a huge part in this film. The police force helped show the central conflict. Today, the police force starts and finishes conflict and is a popular culture item we have in America.
SHERIFF COOLEY
In this film, Sheriff Cooley wears mirrored glasses. He is often referred to as “the devil.” In the film “Cool Hand Luke,” the character Boss also wears mirrored glasses and has a similar connection with the main character.
KKK
In this film, the KKK have a cross burning ceremony. The KKK is known by many people throughout the world and they participate in horrific events such as cross burnings . The three men disguise themselves as part of the KKK in order to save their friend.
THE WIZARD OF OZ
The Klan scene in “O Brother Where Art Thou” directly references The Wizard Of Oz. There is a very similar scene....
