Organizational Behavior Terminology and Concepts Paper
There are several concepts related to organizations. All organizations have a culture that gives a frame work to the values within the organization. There are also organizational behaviors that can be observed within an organization that give hints to how the individuals within the organization act. These organizations also strive for diversity within their workforce in order to expand their potential for skilled workers. However none of this could be done within any organization without communication between groups and individuals. The organizational culture and behavior are present in every organization, even my own.
Organizational Culture
In the internal environment of organizations, the shared beliefs and values that influence the behavior of organizational members create what is called the organizational culture (Schermerhorn, Jr., Hunt, & Osborn, 2008). When observing an organization with a strong culture it will be noticed that the organization has a clear vision of the future, and that vision is supported by beliefs and values that are developed and well communicated. These organizations are usually orientated around high performance and emphasize on teamwork. The leaders of these organizations with strong organizational cultures usually encourage risk taking and strive for innovation.
Organizational Behavior
Organizational behavior is the study of individuals and groups within an organization (Schermerhorn, Jr., Hunt, & Osborn, 2008). When observed, these organizational behaviors can offer valuable insights into an organization. The academic discipline that studies organizational behavior strives to understand individual and group behavior, interpersonal processes, and organizational dynamics.
