My reason for applying to this course is because I want to become a teacher. As discussed in my personal statement I was stupid enough to neglect my time in education and from an early age I can remember having a lack of motivation to succeed and thrive on an academic level. Was this my fault? Yes, more likely than not, but I don’t feel that a lack of enthusiasm and drive to succeed is always down to the child and I feel that without the proper guidance, without the installation of confidence and without practitioners and teachers that are fully committed to seeing each child in their care succeed then many children and young people will walk through life without any ambition or motivation to succeed on any level. For a period of seven months after leaving full-time education I found myself working in various sales role but after realizing that it wasn’t a job that I was taking satisfaction from I left, as I was looking for work I was invited by a close friend of the family to volunteer at the local primary school that she was and is still teaching at in this school I found a happy and supportive schooling community with caring teachers and children that where motivated and fed off of the praise and strong support off of their teachers, twelve months on I’m still there and can truly say have treasured every moment. No I can’t offer you a student with a vast knowledge of Shakespeare’s greatest works or an in depth description of the evolutionary theory but what I can offer you is a student that is genuinely committed to becoming a teacher, a student who will give one hundred percent and more to achieving success and a student that will work as hard as it takes to gain the necessary qualifications so that I can leave your university in a role that I know I can thrive at.
