(1.1) Identify standards that influence the way adult social care job roles are being carried out;
· COSHH; this applies to use of hazardous substances, how it is stored and how to dispose of such substances.
· RIDDOR- reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations. These are the reporting of deaths at work, major injuries cause by accident at work, diseases.
· Manual Handling (operation regulations); relates to moving of items by lifting, carrying, lowering, pushing and pulling.
· The Equality Act codes of practice; this provide detailed explanation of the provisions in the act and to apply legal concepts in the act to everyday situations.
· Care Standard Act 2000; an act of the parliament that provides for the administration of a variety of care institutions, including hospitals, nursing homes and residential care homes
(1.2) Explain why reflecting on work activities is an important way to develop own knowledge and skills.
Reflecting on work activities is an important way to develop own knowledge and skills as it is a great way to develop the things that I know, help to discover what I didn’t know , allow myself to assess if I’m doing well, identify areas where I might need more training or guidance, so I can perform to the best I can, meeting all standards and expectations within my work. This also helps me to set my mind on ways to develop my knowledge and fill in any gaps in my knowledge. It helps you to develop myself without the need of textbooks or training and learn not to repeat mistakes and recognizing the mistakes that was made in the first place.
An example is a situation which involve another carer where he was trying to rush personal care with everyone which I didn’t feel was appropriate and through discussing it with my assessor, it helps me to understand that my practice and belief was good and is the correct way and the other carer’s practice was task led and not residence needs led....
