The definition of value are enduring beliefs or ideas shared by the members of a culture about what is good or desirable and what is not. Values exert a major influence on an individual and serve as broad guidelines in all situations. In reflections on the Williams Institute Ethics Awareness Inventory self- assessment test my results were that I tend to base my ethical perspective on the results to consequences of persons actions. I tend to belief that conduct should be directed toward promoting the greatest good towards the greatest number of people. It really is about the bottom line. My ethical style was caterorgized as that everyone has the moral right to experience the “good in life” and that if the majority of people are unhappy that there is something wrong and needs to be fixed.
On a personal perspective I believe that I come from a family with strong values and ethical beliefs. I have respect for other individuals and other cultures. I am from a Filipino background but yet American born and raised. Many cultural beliefs have been embedded into me from my Filipino background. I have a very high respect to my elders and to others that have achieved things in life with struggle and hard work. I have a high value in friendship and family. I value those two things greatly. I consider myself a little on the conservative side of things when it comes in respecting yourself as a woman and still believe in chivalry. I believe in people and in the good in others. I am a very giving person and believe in good karma. If you are good toward others they should in return be good to you.
