Write a summary of 350-700 words identifying the contributions of Freud, Jung, and Rogers.
Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Carl Rogers all brought significant theories and thoughts to the perception of Psychology. At the time when many Psychologists were focusing on consciousness Freud based his beliefs on unconsciousness which are all the thoughts, ideas, and feelings of which we are not normally aware of. Freud’s ideas form the basis of psychoanalysis, a term that refers to both his theory of personality and to the form of therapy that he invented. Freud believed that human behavior is based on three kinds of instincts or drives some of which are aggressive, others are essential to our survival but the main human behavior is pleasure.
Carl Chung believes represented all of life’s forces, not just the sexual ones. Chung saw that unconsouse as the ego' source of strength and vatality.He also believed that the unconscious consists of the personal unconscious and the collective unconscious. Collective unconsousness, personas, animas, extroverts and introverts are some of the characteristics that Chung based our minds on when it comes to human behavior. Such as a rational individual will base their actions upon their thoughts and feelings as oppose to irrational individuals who base their actions on perceptions, whether through the senses (sensation) or through unconscious processes (intuition).
Carl Rogers came to the conclusion that men and women developed their personalities in the service of positive goals. Rogers believe that every organism is born with certain tendencies in which to be successful and one thing or another as a sort of genetic blueprint. For example if you have a self actualizing tendency or if you think of yourself as athletic or intelligent you will live up to those self images.
