a) Importance of embedding literacy, language, numeracy and ICT skills on courses: Functional skills in you specialised area, The functional skills are core practical skills in English, maths and ICT. Has mention by Gravells (2008) . I will ensure that I would introduce functional skills, Hence it is imperative to embed English, Maths and ICT in my subject. This means it can be use by the student/ learner in different situations in my subject or in everyday life. They will be able to read and write my subject in the classroom or in any employment they achieve. By embedding English that can be use to listen and speak and we all can discuss my subject which is important skill because they are things we use in everyday life. Even by talking to our neighbours, setting clocks and reading newspapers and pages we use these skills even making morning breakfast we use Numeracy skills. Using these skills literacy, language, maths is in almost every aspects of out life. So in my specialise work Welding/ Fabrication and using machinery I be teaching a Employable skill to get the learners into employment, so my students well need to have these basic skills to be able to compete with others in the work environment has it is a competitive employment market, and without these skills no doubt the student would be unemployable as they would not meet the required standards of my specialised subject. So it is a must to embed these skills. To Quote:- Skills audit, A fill skill audit generally carried out be a course team (Tutor) Indicating skills for life specialist Assessor has like my course.
