ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES, BOUNDARIES, LEGISLATION AND CODES OF PRACTICE IN LLUK.
My role as a teacher in the Lifelong Learning sector would be to put into practice the teacher-training cycle I have studied. Firstly, it is both the role and responsibility of the teacher to identify any special needs a learner may require. This could be achieved by handing out a fill-in questionnaire that could cover different criteria such as family background, work experience, previous qualifications, medications, past illnesses, skill level, fears and so on. In the same vein I would need to get acquainted and understand the requisites of the school or organisation to enable me to plan my lessons. I would have to make sure the equipment needed is ready and safe to use and that IT resources are available, may be I should also spare a little tough regarding the classroom layout . This in place should facilitate a great deal the delivery of the teaching and learning in a suitable manner. As a teacher I should be able to adopt different styles in order to deliver exiting, inspiring and motivating learning which than the students will always look forward to. I believe that a teacher’s role is to facilitate learning by encouraging the students to communicate with each other in a way that stimulates debate surrounding the chosen topic; interacting generates feedback, beneficial to both learner and teacher. It would be advantageous at this stage to prepare working plans to deliver group or individual learning session according to requirements. Deliver the teaching in a suitable, concise and comprehensive manner. Assess and mark the work ensuring the students have understood. Getting feedback, support discussion, reassure anxious learners, advise, guide and encourage. Monitor the need for extra tutorial. Interaction with other tutors with a greater understanding and experience than myself would probably be more beneficial than subject knowledge. Evaluate in order to discover the...
