Unit 1: Understanding roles, relationships and responsibilities in education and training.
In this essay I will look at the teachers roles and responsibilities in relation to the teacher/training cycle. I will also summerise key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice relating to teachers role. Then finally I will explain ways to promote equality and diversity and the importance of identifying and meeting individual learner needs.
The role is a 'function' which is the actions and activities assigned to or expected of a person. The role of a teacher is to plan and deliver lessons that will develop the knowledge and skills every learner will need in order for them to succeed, The lessons will need to actively include and engage each learner, providing inclusive learning which is very important. Find and prepare materials that will aid my lessons such as video clips and handouts. Do research so I can be sure that all the information I am providing is valid and accurate, assess learners throughout the course aswell as constantly assessing myself, keep records of lesson plans, attendance and assessments so if ever I was required to go back to a date I will have everything down as evidence of learning.
Responsibilities are the activities or processes that are required in order to carry out roles that have been allocated. The responsibilities of a teacher is to facilitate learning and teach effectively. This will involve planning lessons, preparing teaching materials, marking work, continually assess the learners progress and abilities, aim to differentiate teaching and learning methods, being aware of the learners attention span and always ensuring i am an example to the learners by being a role model.
I understand that in the role of a teacher it is important to protect yourself at all times, the best way to do this is to follow the rules and code of practice stated by the organisation you are employed by. Being a teacher...
