Discuss issues of equality and diversity and ways to promote inclusion, equality and diversity with your current/future learners. Review other points of referral available to meet the potential needs of your learners. ‘Diversity is defined by ‘otherness’ or those human qualities that are different from our own and outside groups to which we belong, yet are present in other or individuals or groups.’ (University of Maryland, 1995) or, ‘Different individuals valuing each other regardless of skin, intellect, talent or years’ (www.trendenterprises.com)

4 Encourage learners to ask questions of the teacher and each   other whilst respecting others’ opinions.
5 Establish ground rules including respect and dignity.
        6 Use non-discriminatory language.
7 Use resources that reflect the diversity of the group and that are adaptable to meet individual needs.

On some occasions the training will be summative and specific to each skill set. Completing an individual learning plan prompts the making of any adjustments to the training or training environment, referring students for internal or external help...
