Q1.1 - Explain the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training?
A - As a teacher, one of your main roles is to motivate your learners to develop their ability and aspiration to learn.
A primary responsibility is to ensure that learners are enrolled onto the correct course, in terms of meeting their needs, abilities and aspirations.
Q1.2 - Summarise key aspects of legislation, regulatory requirements and codes of practice relating to own role and responsibilities.
A - As a teacher of English and Business Studies, I am expected to have an understanding of current legislation and guidelines. The Equality Act (2006) is about the rights of learners to attend and participate, regardless of the, race, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, age, and ethnic origin. Some examples of such legislations are:
- Health & Safety at Work Act 1974. - The Sex Discrimination Act 1975
- The Race Relations Act 1976
- The Disability Discrimination Act 1995
- Data Protection Act 1998. This governs the protection of personal data of my learners.
- The Child Protection Act 1999

A - We can promote equality and diversity by:
* treating all staff and students fairly
* creating an inclusive culture for all staff and students
* ensuring equal access to opportunities to enable students to fully participate in the learning process
* enabling all staff and students to develop to their full potential
* equipping staff and students with the skills to challenge inequality and discrimination in their work/study environment
* making certain that any learning materials do not discriminate against any individuals or groups
* ensuring policies, procedures and processes don't discriminate
