Promoting services or a new product to clients you need to consider the feature and its benefits.

Features - are the functions - what the service does
Benefits are the results of the functions - what the service achieves.

For a client who has never had colour   you could try promoting a semi-permanent colour, features is that it is not a permanment and is applied in a conditioning glossy shine. The benefits are that it will wash out after 6-8 shampoos.having knowledge of the benefits and features you therefore create a need which puts you in a good position of promoting/up selling this service to your client.

ENCOURAGING A CLIENT TO USE A PRODUCT OR SERVICE WHICH THEY HAVE USED BEFORE

This could be a permanent colour that client has used to get full coverage of white hair which has been successful in the past so features are that its permanent   and benefits are covers 100% white hair.

HOW YOU HAVE PROMOTED OTHER SECTIONS OF YOU’RE THE SALON

Another way of promoting an additional service could be hair extensions. Hair extensions can be used to add length,volume,thickness and unbelievable shine to natural hair.they can be short term or long term dependent on clients needs.short term if only need for a wedding day/party etc.

Promoting a new product or service in the salon such as a new styling product or a new colouring system.first step is to gain the knowledge of each service/product, reconignise the features and benefits then inform to the potential market by means of promotion. this could be through leafets or you could offer a discount to all new clients.
