Red Nose
My second text is a song by rap artist Tech N9ne called Red Nose this song is about how since he is an independent artist his music doesn’t get played and that other artists treat him differently. The title is a reference to Rudolf the red nosed reindeer which he also references throughout the song but most notably in the first verse saying “They call me Rudolf the red; they know I don’t rip off the mic but I chew off the head.” The later means that people know that he isn’t just a good musician, but a great one. He continues to reference nursery rhymes like the ugly duckling, athletes, actors and music labels.
Tech N9ne is a notorious independent rapper from Kansas City Missouri in Mid-West America where gang life was prominent where he grew up he is also the first independent rapper to sell a million albums. He was on a song with Tupac Shakur called thugs get lonely too but the song with him featuring wouldn’t be released but a version with Nate Dogg was. He made his first studio album in 1998 called The Calm before the Storm it featured his first national success Mitch Bade along the years he made collaboration with artists like Twista, Bone Thugs-n-harmony, and Scarface. He has even built success as the C.E.O. of his own music company. When he was an up-coming artist he was constantly dropped from labels and had his records put on hold to push forward in the labels eyes more important artists and because of this he has vowed never to make music that labels want him to make but instead make music he does which led him to make his own company.
In the introduction of the “Red nose” music video has a Rudolf toy singing its Christmas carol then cuts to tech with paint on his face with a red nose symbolizing him wanting to be accepted by more artists but still being an outsider. Claiming that major music labels sign fake and crappy one hit wonder rappers while there’s so many independent artists with longevity that deserve more acknowledgment. His...
