Introduction
This report will focus and discuss a research based question that has relevance to clinical practice. The chosen question that will be discussed is clexane effective in reducing the risk of deep vein thrombosis in patients while in hospital. I will discuss the methodologies and methods used to capture and analysis the data used through this assignment through a systemic literature review based on the results and evidence found on my topic. Examining the relevance and implications of the findings in clinical practice I will use a PowerPoint presentation at the end to explore my findings. The contributing factors that lead to the discussion of this question is that it was personally felt and experienced that there is a lack of understanding within patients and nursing staff today about the risks involved in developing a deep vein thrombosis while in hospital. According to Parahoo (1997) research is defined as a systematic and rigorous collection and analysis of data on the organisation, delivery uses and outcomes of nursing care for the purpose of enhancing clients or patient’s health. Research provides insight into our practice and can confirm or reject what is already known about a topic, it deepens our understanding of nursing care and tests the effectiveness of the care we give to patients and is concerned with the development of new methods of care. So therefore we see here that research plays a key role in providing evidence to improve the quality of care given to clients research has the potential to provide the opportunity for nurses to ask questions about their practice and seek answers.
