Research is the most important part of finding out information about a topic. The best way to get started on doing research is to just start it. Going online and using Google and Yahoo is a start. Some good advice would be to find journals and start reading about the topic, start putting ideas on paper, and start writing. In the research paper it is best to avoid plagiarism, avoid offensive language, or any prejudice language. There are five steps that can be followed in a research report. Following the research process will make it stronger for the chance of gaining a successful, well-researched project.
The first step is The Research Problem and Literature Review. This section of the research paper is based on the purpose of the research project. “The writer should address why this research and its findings may be useful to criminal justice and/or criminology.” (Appendix A, p. 368) The introduction should show an overview of what the topic would be about. The next step is methodology. This section includes descriptions of the research design and the gathering of the data. Towards the end of the report a brief questionnaire may be added. This section also has details of “sampling procedures, the subjects and setting, ethical protections, operationalization of key variables, and the measuring instruments that were employed.” (Appendix A p. 369) The writer pretty much explains how the study is done.
