Roles and Functions
Being a manager in any industry can have many different roles and many functions that are going to be very important. As a manager you are going to be setting goals to lead to success, be organized and you are going to want to add value to all of your employees. Being in a management position is going to allow someone change and also they are going to want to grow by this change. According to Lombardi and Schermerhorn (2007), “Managers have to strive to perform effectively and efficiently on a daily basis to ensure achievement.” As a manager you will be constantly looking for a new way to improve your surrounding daily that way you can run a better operation. As a manager you are going to have to always think of ways to better improve the future to make a better work environment. . “ Managers must realize when there is a performance problem and also realize when opportunities arise.” (Lombardi & Schermerhorn, 2007.) When in a manager’s position they are going to use time wisely and also when needed they will take action on the appropriate things that are needed to have action on. Being a manager there is a process to follow when something happens. There are four processes in management which is organizing, planning, controlling any resources, and leading which is meant to accomplish performance goals (Lombardi & Schermerhorn, 2007).
When looking at the four processes of management you will see that each process is important when it comes to managing a facility. The first one is organizing. This is the process in which you will come up with plans, making sure activities are coordinated. Then Planning is the process of making sure that there is planning and it also comes with a lot of important decision making. Then is controlling when doing this you are going to make sure that your work environment is running smoothly. And lastly is leading. Making sure that...
