Ronald Reagan was born on February 6, 1911 in Tampico, Illinois. His father (John Reagan) said, “He looks like a fat little Dutchmen. But who knows, he might grow up to be president someday…” and little did they know, Ronald did become president from the years of January 20, 1981 to January 20, 1989. Before stepping into presidency and having to deal with many problems, Reagan was Governor of California from 1967-1975. Reagan also was an actor.
Reagan went into the acting business for quite a while and he stared in many movies. When first hired, he had to get a make-over in order to star in his first movie ever made called Love is on the Air about a radio announcer. After this set, he went onto Warner Brothers and auditioned for another movie scene and made it without any hesitations. Hollywood really enjoyed him and stared him in another movie based on a true story called Sergeant Murphy. From here on out he moved to California with his parents to live a better life and continued his acting business making a grand total of 31 movies.
As Reagan surpassed his years as an actor, he then continued onto the next chapter of life running for Governor of California in 1966 against Pat Brown. Winning the position and settling in the year of 1967, he began making decisions right away due to what Brown left behind unfinished or distraught. I am pretty sure his position as governor was not all that easy but not as hard either, Reagan now decided he wanted to run for President in the year of 1980. He did so and he ran against James Carter.
Coming into presidency, Reagan had many problems he had to fix or at least try to fix. They were in a worldwide depression probably even worse than the Great Depression. Due to the worldwide depression was because of the Cold War.
