The current assignment reconnoitered the child abuse case of Baby P and the
involvement of various professionals in the case,
It will look at commonalities in other abuse cases of Victoria Climbe and Khyra Ishaq.
The cases mentioned had similarities in them which revealed that there were concerns
raised by various professional agencies, for example Victoria Climbe was known to five
housing authorities, four social services department, two child protection teams of the
Metropolitan Police, a specialists centre manager and had been admitted to two
hospitals with suspected deliberate harm, these findings were not communicated to the
other agencies.( Report of an Inquiry by Lord Laming 2003)
Khyra Ishaq case highlighted a similar catalogue of events.
A childs social care manager and practitioner raised earlier concerns, three incidents
during March 2006 were not followed through and information was not shared with
correct departments, school medical staff did not effectively report their owns concerns
raised by school staff about Khyra’s younger sibling to any governing body
The opportunity to liaise with the appropriate professional bodies was not reiterated
missed chances to stop another death.
The most recent child abuse case was child on child in Doncaster which had the same
issues highlighted, the family and were known to the local authority yet no action was
taken, no one intervened the boys attacked were not killed but are extremely
traumatized by their ordeal.

alongside an Ofsted inspection of Doncaster social services, found that the high
number of child in need cases without a named social worker meant the local authority
could not be confident the children had their needs met or were protected.
