Shopping in the digital age has changed the way people look for and purchase goods. Like everything else in the world, technology is striving to make buying goods and services more convenient for everyone. Online shopping has taken off, and accounts for a lot of the revenue companies are making. Even with this major boom in online shopping, brick-and-mortar shopping centers are not going anywhere. Depending on what you are looking for, both shopping experiences has their advantages and disadvantages. As these companies find out where these advantages and disadvantages are, they use technology to better the experience for the consumer by creating interactive and convenient online shopping tools. Technology is changing the way we shop and bridges the gap between online shopping and brick-and-mortar shopping.
I do not believe that brick-and-mortar shopping is going anywhere anytime soon. There is always going to be a time in which you need something right away. If you got sick and needed some medicine, you would want to run to the store and grab something to make you feel better now, rather than 3 to 5 days when your item comes in the mail from online shopping. The same goes for other items that you might not usually stock up on. Buying clothes can be difficult online since it is nice to be able to try things on before you purchase them. Being able to see the product in your hands and close up is a pretty big advantage over online shopping. Brick-and-mortar shopping also makes shopping for bulky and large items easier than online shopping, since it usually would cost a lot of money to have these items shipped to your house. Things like couches, beds, major appliances and all other types of furniture for your home would be very hard to shop for using only online shopping solutions.
