Six Dimensions of Health

Part 1

For each of the following six dimensions of health, list at least one characteristic, activity, belief, or attitude that reflects that dimension in your life. Provide a brief explanation with each example. Refer to Ch. 1 in the text for explanations of these dimensions.

Physical health: The most important to me, I like to go to the gym at least 5 days a week and eat healthy. I believe it will make me mentally happy as well.

Social health: Socializing with my friends and family is a must for me because staying social with others help with the feeling of being alone. Being social can also keep me up to date with the world and what’s happening in it.

Intellectual health: Being that I attend The University of Phoenix I am working on my intellectual health. I also like to read and discover new things every day to expand my knowledge base.

Environmental health: I am a very clean person and like to live in a clean environment so I am consistently cleaning my living area. I also like to wash my hands frequently to prevent spreading germs.


Emotional health: I tend to keep my emotions bottled up because I believe in being a man and dealing with my emotions on my own. It is probably better to let my emotions show and to work on them with myself and others.

Spiritual health: Spiritual health is having a sense of purpose in life and knowing there is a greater good out there regardless of religious beliefs. I have not discovered my purpose or a greater good yet so I need to work on my spiritual health

Part 2

In approximately 125 to 200 words, describe health and wellness in your own words using the ideas and concepts for each of the six dimensions of health.
