Social Responsibility VS Proactive
The CEO of Aramark states that Aramark is committed to conducting its business with the utmost integrity and according to the highest ethical standards.
How much of all this is just marketing to give its company an aura effect. There are many companies such as Toyota, Chevrolet, and Ford who take a proactive stance to simply stay on the safe side. Intel the world’s largest chipmaker is planning to increase its investments this year in energy efficiency in hopes to help the environment and cut cost. If companies are improving the way they do business and interactions with the consumer and employees in order to improve their image and stimulate consumer trustworthiness that would be a good thing.
Companies like camel, R.J.Renolds and Phillip Morris all tobacco companies are perfect examples of taking a defensive stance to social responsibility because they all follow the law by placing warnings on the cigarette packs and not advertising. These companies would not put warnings on the pack if it wasn’t for the law. In fact tobacco companies have actively attempted to remake its image only because it was responding to evidence that they marketed products to attract children and misled the public about smoking health
