Southern California Should Build a Monorail
Everyday there is crazy traffic on the 405 freeway. Usually it takes 20 minutes to Los Angeles, but it sometimes takes an hour to go there because there are too many cars on the freeway. People have to leave home early to get to their destinations on time, and it is very stressful. Moreover, uncountable people die by car accidents on the freeway. In addition, cars have a bad effect on the earth such as a global warming. In fact, the construction of a monorail in southern California would be the best solution for these problems.
To begin with, a monorail is environmentally friendly. According to an article, Environment Friendly by the Monorail Society, the Las Vegas monorail assisted the annual removal of 3.2 million vehicle miles in south Nevada in 2007. Moreover, it reduced more than 58 tons of poisonous substances such as carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, and nitrogen oxides. In fact, southern California has so many freeways that it has a lot of emissions of poisonous substances. Therefore, if we build the monorail and start using it instead of cars, we can protect the global environment.
Moreover, the monorail has an extremely high safety rate because there are no deaths by monorail accident because of structure, the monorail is not going to jump off the rail and flip over. Also, the monorail is not on the ground, so there is no possibility that it could run over people. Therefore, it can save many lives.
Furthermore, the monorail needs less space to be built and is good for hills. The monorail does not needs lots of space to be built because it does not need a slow curve. It can have a pretty sharp breaking curve compared with train rails. In addition, people could make something beneath the monorail and they do not need a railroad crossing; therefore, it is also good for hills because we do not need to lay a railroad on the ground. In short, the monorail can be built in a limited space and on the...
