Statement of Purpose
I wish to introduce myself as Mr. Harish Shetty, a prospective student aspiring to pursue my Masters in Automotive Engineering/ Internal Combustion Engines for 2009. In this context, while perusing the Internet extensively with impressive feedback from my seniors studying in your esteemed college, I chose the RWTH Achem being one of the best offering the course. We are standing at a juncture where the need of the hour is propelling technological developments that address our environmental and energy needs. With keen interest in next generation technology, IC Engines of the future, hybrid engines and alternate fuels, I have focused my academic pursuits towards this end. As a school student, I have been an avid follower of Formula Racing events and had a significant collection of international automobile related books and magazines that kept me up to date with latest happenings around the world. It was therefore natural to pursue my Bachelors of Engineering with specialisation in Automotive Engineering. I am proud to be ranked 10th in the entire University from this stream. A proactive member of the Society of Automotive Engineers India, I have organised technical presentations and quizzes related to the field. I take pride in having won several inter-collegiate awards and prizes in events that reflected my superior capabilities in assembling various automotive component parts to a perfect fit. With energy crunch and fast depletion of resources, tapping alternative fuels is the order of the day. To this effect, I approached my professors to embark on a project titled “Comparative Study of Performance of a Two Wheeler using Gasoline-Ethanol Blends”, the paper is awaiting selection for an all India conference. With a constant endeavor to keep abreast with latest technologies, I...
