Abstract
Forensic psychology is a moderately novel field that only first established acknowledgement by the American Psychology Association in 2001. There are many subspecialties within the field of forensic psychology, as one might have figured and many opportunities within the field. For example, there are criminal psychology subspecialties, juvenile subspecialties, civil subspecialties, correctional psychology subspecialties, investigative psychology subspecialties, and police psychology to name a few. The current paper assesses the progression of forensic psychology and its subspecialties as well as roles forensic professionals play within each subspecialty, ethical dilemmas that arise, landmark court cases in each subspecialty, and controversial issues surrounding each subspecialty, along with relevant research.
