As a youth worker I feel that that any information given out to young people should be relevant and up to date because if that young person wants to access that service you are explaining, and the service no longer exist, then the young person may not want to work with you or believe anything you do and we need to be building rapport with young people not losing it. As a worker I feel that we all need to keep ourselves up to speed on the latest changes to companies so that the young people are given relevant information. As the practitioners/ youth workers we should always give important information and advice so that the young person feels empowered and knows that they can access the service if they felt confident enough to do so, also it the youth worker or workers a chance to explain to the young person about the service in full as well. Giving information is not important all the time you have to be able to get information as well , now as a worker with that young person you can find it very difficult to do this, however if you use open questions and are a active listener then the young person is more than likely going to talk to you and give you the information that you need about them. We must always remember that when we give young people information we should always be open to questions about that information, we should Also be quite open to feedback as well as some of the young people may have tried the service before and not got on with this service. When we provide information we also should check that it’s from appropriate sources and that the information is true and not something that someone has wrote about, Wikipedia is a good example of this, that is information that has been overviewed by someone else. We also needs to make sure that the information given is to their needs as there is no point given them information on a project that will not be used by them, yes this will make the young person more knowledgeable but at the same time they may...
