When the world was on the brink of collapse and annihilation we were handed over a small wire cutter to diffuse this bomb...HOPE...equipped with this tiny device that we believed could stem the erupting chaos we embarked on a dangerous mission to end all our troubles...what was ironic was we didn’t know which wire to cut....and still there was hope!
I do not know if hope is more of a bane than a boon... it is this one feeling that makes us rush towards the train even though we know that we’ll miss it anyways...it makes us sit in the examination hall hoping that only what we have learnt will come for the exam...even though we have studied just 20% of the portion. It makes you console yourself when none are around to do so, and when nothing works you scold yourself for hoping. It is a bitter-sweet pill that comes without any guarantee of working, you can only take a chance and see if it works.
Hope defies both logic and gravity...logic because, it makes you feel...rather assures you that losing your way in the maze of circumstances was for your own good ...and that no matter how badly things get messed up there is always a way to fix them...with this new restored confidence we rush towards the already turning red traffic signal....hoping to make it across in the last one second and lo! we find ourselves standing right there on the very edge stranded for another 180 seconds.
About hope defying gravity...it is a simple fact that needs no explanation ...it gives you that uplifting feeling no matter how low and trodden you feel, it makes you smile in the midst of your tears... whether it is switching off your cell phone after a really nasty fight with someone and hoping that they will call you on your alternate number.....or eating a bar of chocolate hoping that it will not reflect on your weighing scale.
