The two presidential candidates have views on many topics and issues that face the country. President Obama and Governor Romney view most of these issues in separate ways, and to identify where they stand you must conduct strenuous research. In watching the debates, I have not received much useful information. It seems like they would rather fight each other than explain themselves or the topics, so I turn my research to the internet. I found that one issue that the two candidates approach is taxes. How each of them will deal with taxes is not so similar though. Healthcare is another topic that both of these candidates face head on with different opinions.
The first issue at hand and in my opinion the most important, taxation and reducing the debt of the nation. I will start with President Obama’s view on the issue. President Obama’s plan is to ‘invest in the middle class’ by investing in education and manufacturing to create an educated working class. He proposes that he will also bring spending down to the lowest it has been in 50 years. He believes that a strong middle class will help boost our economy. The President also proposes that millionaires have their taxes raised higher than the middle class taxation rate. The last portion of his plan is to reduce the deficit 4 trillion dollars through the next ten years with a balanced plan of reducing spending through the government and raise the revenue of the country. Governor Mitt Romney has a different view on taxation and the reduction of the debt that we have accumulated. Governor Romney wants to lower marginal rates by 20 percent. He will also maintain the current tax rates to the individual persons while cutting taxes for those with an income below 200,000 dollars. Mitt Romney, if elected, said that he would do away with the death tax and also repeal the Alternative Minimum Tax which has a great number of exemptions to individuals and corporations.
