1) Explain the functions of internal quality assurance in learning and development.
IQA is the monitoring of each individual learners journey throughout their time with the company. It takes place to make sure the learners receive a good quality service and that all assessments have been correct and fair. The IQA process is to plan what is to be monitored, to observe assessor’s practice and training and to give constructive feedback that will help develop skills and knowledge. The IQA will sample learners work and the assessor’s decisions and to sample assessment records. The IQA could also meet with learners or other witnesses that may have observed their work to ensure that it is valid and fair. The IQA will also attend standardisation meetings to ensure all assessors practice is standardised to make sure quality is still to the correct standard. Team meetings are also important to ensure any concerns are dealt with in a timely way. Also the IQA is there to support the assessors and give them constructive feedback to help them develop skills and knowledge.
The function of the IQA is to ensure that the learner receives quality throughout their whole journey, to uphold the credibility of what is being assessed to ensure there is no negative impact on the business.
