Home Study Written Task

Introduction
This task assesses learners’ understanding of how building trusting and effective relationships with children, young people and adults is an essential part of a support teacher's role. This unit explores ways to communicate in different situations and contexts and the importance of following procedures for confidentiality and information sharing.

Assessment
You can either use the templates that follow to record your work, or produce your own.   You will be assessed on your knowledge and understanding, through your assessor looking at your written records. All your research and written work should be stored in your Learner Pack alongside the task.

The Task

Good communication is pivotal when working with children, young people and adults to establish and maintain relationships. It is an active process that involves listening, questioning, understanding and responding. You should always communicate appropriately to match the stage of development, personal circumstances, and needs of the participant you are communicating with.
