EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE.
1. Discuss what is meant by the term ‘early years foundation stage’ EYFS.
The Early year’s foundation stage aims to set the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It will promote teaching and learning to ensure that the children are given the broad range of knowledge and skills that will provide the right foundation for good future progress and get them in readiness for their future school years and life. From when your child is born up until the age of 5, their early years’ experience should be happy, active, exciting, fun and secure; and is designed to support their development, care and learning needs.
The EYFS places a strong emphasis on working with parents as partners, language and play is for parents of children age 0 -3 years. Being a parent is the most important job in your life, I believe you are your child's first and most important educator sooner children hear language the sooner they of learning and development with parents, leads to improved cognitive, social and emotional outcomes for children. Parents and practitioners use this shared knowledge and understanding in order to plan together and think through ideas of how to move the child forward, learning opportunities and next steps can be planned for the setting and the home. This will help to extend and strengthen the early home learning environment.
The primary purpose of the EYFS Profile is to provide a reliable, valid and accurate assessment of individual children at the end of the EYFS”
